East Greenbush, N.Y. – House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik released the following statement regarding the resignation of University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill:
One down. Two to go.
This is only the very beginning of addressing the pervasive rot of antisemitism that has destroyed the most “prestigious” higher education institutions in America.
This forced resignation of the president of Penn is the bare minimum of what is required.
These universities can anticipate a robust and comprehensive Congressional investigation of all facets of their institutions' negligent perpetration of antisemitism including administrative, faculty, and overall leadership and governance.
Harvard and MIT, do the right thing. The world is watching.
In the case of Harvard, President Gay was asked by me 17 times whether calling for the genocide of Jews violates Harvard’s code of conduct. She spoke her truth 17 times. And the world heard.
In the case of MIT, Dr. Kornbluth answered the question: “If targeted at individuals” is dehumanizing the Jewish people in her answer.
Maybe shouldn't have been a Univ. Pres.
That Penn president has probably never been challenged before about her thoughts or ideals. Until a diligent woman Representative from New York asked obvious and direct questions. That's the problem of cloistered arenas like university faculty lounges, newsrooms, and DC bureaucratic agencies. They all sing the same tune from the same hymnal: liberal, progressive, and woke. It sounds good in practice in a utopian vacuum, but in the harsh reality of everyday Americans and with real-world issues, their hubris is amplified. Those university presidents were blind-sided. Their fast-tracked, affirmative action inspired positions met up with a tough question, or two. And then they looked like woke political buffoons, just like their current US president.
