Yonneena “Neena” Marie McKenzie

Yonneena “Neena” Marie McKenzie, 69, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday Dec. 27, 2024 at Highland District Hospital, surrounded by her family. 

She was born on March 28, 1955 in Columbus, the daughter of the late Delores Stevens. 

Neena was a member of the Hillsboro AmVets Post 61 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo at the AmVets, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Neena was selfless, always putting others before herself, she was easy to talk to and a great listener. She will be greatly missed. 

Neena is survived by five children, Donna McKenzie, Teresa McKenzie, Gennifer (Tony) Miller, Donald (Lina Sexton) McKenzie and Melvin McKenzie; 15 grandchildren, Joshua (Natasha) McKenzie, Chad (Harley) Elliott, Skylar Elliott, Toasha Gompf, Abegail McKenzie, Jhi (Fancy) McKenzie, Tiffany (Jesse) Henderson, Anthony Miller, Teauna, Breauna, Donny, Dakota, Shyannah, Kasey Elliott and Seth Elliott; a sister, Gayle; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. 

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron McKenzie; and a sister, Wilda Kay Zimmerman. 

A celebration of Neena’s life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
