Wilma Jean 'Jeannie' Cohmer
Wilma Jean “Jeannie” Cohmer, 76, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024 at Greenfield Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born June 13, 1947 in New Vienna, the daughter of Carse and Gladys (Edwards) Cohmer.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, needle crafts and tin punch pictures. She attended Bible study with Dawn Bible Students.
She was a former clerk and assistant manager, respectively, at Greenfield and Hillsboro BMV. She sat on the Greenhills Village Apartments Board of Trustees.
She is survived by one son, Troy (Wavalyn “Baja”) Newkirk of Greenfield; one daughter, Tonya (Rodney) Throckmorton of Sundance, Wyo.; six grandchildren, Heather (Jacob) Ramsey, Joshua (Becky) Throckmorton, Clair (Trey) McDaniel, Rebecca Grace Throckmorton, Trevor Newkirk and Trenton Newkirk; 20 great-grandchildren, Kyler, Kaden, Keely, Cruz, Charlotte, Clayton, Madelyn, Cody, Heidi Joy, Joshua Jr., Levi, Landen, Jeremy, Matthew, Sarah, Samuel, Edwin, Martin, Melania and Esther; one sister, Alice (Jack) Anders of Washington C.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Grace Patience McDaniel; four brothers, Donald, Charles, Lowell and Joe Cohmer; one sister, Dorothy Howland; and both parents.
Funeral service will be Thursday, May 23 at 1 p.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Roger Newkirk officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
