William Edward King
William Edward King, 84, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024 at Adena Greenfield Medical Center.
He was born April 10, 1939 in Floyd County, Ky., the son of Walter Scott and Mida Jane (Halbert) King.
He was a 1960 graduate of Morehead State University, receiving his bachelor’s degree in education and then received his master’s degree in education in 1968. He was a member of Greenfield Historical Society, a member of Grand Lodge of F. & A.M., Leesburg Lodge No. 78 and a former Trustee of South Central Ohio Power.
He retired in 1992 from Greenfield Exempted Village Schools, where he taught industrial arts. He received the Ohio Industrial Arts Teacher of the year award in 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane “Janie” (Streitenberger) King, whom he married July 28, 1962; three sons, Kurt (Annie) King of Chillicothe, Kevin (Annie) King of Leesburg and Korey King of Troy; eight grandchildren, Kaylie King, Emmy (Rhodes) Farrell, Kurtis King, Jr., Calvin King, Kara (Andrew) Young, Krista King, Alex King and Simone King; sister-in-law, Suette King of Saline, Mich; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank King; two sisters, Wally Hinton and Tee Isaacs; and both parents.
Funeral service will be Thursday, April 4 at 10 a.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Mark Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
