William 'Bill' Swisshelm

William “Bill” Swisshelm, 84, passed away peacefully March 7, 2024. 

He was born Dec. 14, 1939.

Bill grew up in Hillsboro, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Kay. They moved to Cincinnati so Bill could attend college at the University of Cincinnati. He loved his Bearcats and his Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity brothers and was a loyal and generous alumnus. 

Bill and Kay started their family in Western Hills, eventually settling in Forest Park as Bill worked his way up to Managing Partner at Grant Thornton. Together they raised their two kids among great neighborhood friends, while coaching baseball and softball and being involved in all of their other activities along the way. Bill loved playing golf and going fishing, was an avid Reds fan and was one of the best storytellers around. He loved music and movies and had a witty sense of humor that kept his loved ones laughing.

After retirement, Bill became "Pop Pop" and took his job seriously. As with anything he loved, it was “Go Big or Go Home,” and being a grandpa was no exception. He could always be found enjoying baseball, football, basketball, soccer, dance, show choir, theater and anything else that his grandkids loved. He held them for hours on end when they were babies, and he was the proudest Pop Pop around.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay (née Koogler) Swisshelm; daughter, Sandy (Tom) Sackett; son, Doug (Kim) Swisshelm;, grandchildren, Amanda (Zack), Randi (Ben), Darren, Chris, Alex, Jamie and Jake; great-grandchildren, Brynnlie, Marlie and Lane; brother, Steve (Barbara) Swisshelm; and sister-in-law, Karen (Tom) Black.
