Virginia Dobbins

Virginia Dobbins, 90, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully June 3, 2024 at Legacy Nursing Home in Hillsboro.

Virginia was born April 22, 1934 in Middlesboro, Ky. Then, her parents moved the family to Cincinnati at some point; she was probably 10-12 years old. She had much responsibility helping to raise her three brothers during the “Depression” while her parents tried to find work.

She was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness since her baptism on May 8, 1971. She would share her hope of God’s Kingdom with people whenever she could and wherever she was. She enjoyed studying the Bible with others and teaching them the wonderful truths found in the Bible, especially with her grandchildren, Elizabeth and Elaina, and Liz’s children, Jared and Alexandra. She also enjoyed very much when Alisha and Katie would visit and bring their children. They usually brought dinner, too.

She was a very “artsy” person. She loved to paint, sew and do crafts. She even tried her hand at working with stained glass. She had many other wonderful talents. She was a hard worker and was an excellent cook. Virginia could strike up a conversation on a dime and had an infectious smile and a good sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, John Dobbins. John and Virginia were married Dec. 6, 1975 in Cincinnati. She shared a marriage with John for 49 years. John took wonderful care of Virginia during their life together, especially since her stroke almost 10 years ago. He was a good provider and a good spiritual husband to her and her children.

She is also survived by her two daughters, Denise Greene (Terry) and Therese Young (Allen), and son, Mark Prestwood (Marilyn); nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Greene, Elaina Ebbing, Blaine Edmonds III, Katie Edmonds, Alisha Edmonds, Bobby Edmonds, Mark Prestwood, Mya Awawdeh and Autumn Prestwood; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three of her children, Rick Collett, Sue Cecil and Frank (Buddy) Prestwood.
A memorial service will be held June 15, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5241 S.R. 247, Hillsboro 45133. There will be pictures and music 20 minutes before the service. The service will also be on Zoom. The meeting ID and password will be provided Saturday morning.

Flowers can be sent to the Kingdom Hall Saturday morning.
