Tony Joe Purdin, 56, of South Salem, died Friday, August 28, 2009 at Greenfield Area Medical Center. He was born Aug. 1, 1953 in Greenfield, the son of Glenn Purdin and Roberta (May) Purdin. He was a musician and a truck driver. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 960, and F.O.E. #1325. He was a U.S. Merchant Marine and was in the U.S. Army. He is survived by both parents of Union City, Ind.; three sons, Tony (Lori) Purdin, Union City; Adelino "Dino" Purdin, Union City; and Lucas (Dominique) Purdin, Fort Hood, Texas; one brother, Bobby Purdin, Union City; two sisters, Coramy Purdin Michniewicz, Raleigh, N.C. and Glenna Purdin, Bloomingburg; 13 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Tracy Lee Purdin. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Greenfield Cemetery.
