Thomas 'Tom' Patrick Moran

Thomas “Tom” Patrick Moran, 62, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 4, 2024 at the Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash in Cincinnati, surrounded by his family.

He was born Sept. 16, 1961, the son of the late Dr. Joseph P. and Beverly J. (Griffith) Moran.

Thomas graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1980. Upon graduation from high school, Thomas worked at the Great Scot Grocery and Airborne Express. He was a dedicated employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 for the past 35 years.

Thomas was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a church usher, assisted with the yearly Lenten fish fry and was a 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus. Thomas was an avid fan of the Ohio State University football program, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds. A loving brother and uncle, Thomas will be remembered for his quiet but friendly personality, his willingness to help others and his love of his family.

Thomas is survived by his brother, Dr. J. Michael (Bettina) Moran; three sisters, Elizabeth (Joe Schuch) Moran, Kathleen Moran and Susan (Greg) Rhoads; nephews, Ben Rhoads and Alex (Annie) Rhoads; niece, Marissa Moran; stepbrothers, Michael (Sharon) Yochum and Mitchell (Pam) Yochum; aunts, Emily Morris and Margaret Hudson; several cousins, step-nieces and step-nephews; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his stepmother, Eloise Martin Moran; paternal grandparents, Clarence H. and Mildred Moran; maternal grandparents, Glenn and Jessie Griffith; aunts, Mary Elizabeth Moran and Mary Delores Moran; uncles, Dr. Vincent Moran, Harold Griffith, David Morris and Frank Hudson; and cousin, Mary Beth Morris.

Visitation will be held Wednesday July 10, 2024 from 10 a.m. until noon at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 212 S High Street, Hillsboro 45133. Mass of Christian burial will take place immediately following visitation at noon at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Paraniuk as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Hillsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas’ name to St. Mary Catholic Church, 212 S High Street, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133; Highland Humane Society, PO Box 471, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133; or to the Hospice of Cincinnati, PO Box 633597, Cincinnati, Ohio 45263.
