Sonja Lea Wright
Sonja Lea Wright, 67, of Lynchburg, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at her home.
She was born June 16, 1957 in Dayton, the daughter of Marvin Dudley Bolser and Barbara Sue (Riner) Bolser.
Sonja was a graduate of Wayne High School in Dayton, and she went on to earn her bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky. She worked at the Lynchburg-Clay Elementary School for 18 years. She was a member of the Allensburg Church of Christ, Lynchburg Historical Society and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Society. Sonja was extremely proud of graduating from UK and though she enjoyed all sports, including the Cincinnati Reds, her favorite was cheering on her UK Wildcats basketball team. She enjoyed tending to all her plants, Civil War history, traveling to see lighthouses and to historical sites, and visiting the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Sonja is survived by her husband, Warren Wright of Lynchburg; two children, Spencer Wright of Fayetteville and Lucy (Adam Warner) Wright of Cassopolis, Mich.; three grandchildren, Gabriel Wright, Chancellor Wright and Vincent Wright; two sisters, Sophia Zeigler of Detroit, Mich. and Susan (Steve) Boone of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a brother, Mark (Jeanne) Bolser of Fairborn; three sisters-in-law, Marlis (Jon) Peterson of Milford, Cathy Burdsall of Newtonsville and Joanne Wheeldon of Cincinnati; and countless nieces, nephews and friends.
Sonja was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Tim Zeigler.
Gathering of family and friends will be 4-6 p.m. Friday, July 12 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Celebration of Sonja’s life will be held privately. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or to the MAF give.maf.org.
