Sonja Faye (Thorgerson) Worley

Sonja Faye (Thorgerson) Worley, 68, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024 after her courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 2, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of the late Arnold and Beulah (Neuhaus) Thorgerson.
Sonja was a graduate of the St. Petersburg High School in Florida, and she attended and studied Christian Ministry and Theology at the Apostolic Bible Institute, St. Paul. After marrying the love of her life, John A. Worley, they moved to Columbus, and five years later to Hillsboro to begin pastoring TouchPoint Pentecostals for the next 41 years. She was a gifted teacher, musician, event host and church secretary. Sonja founded and managed TouchPoint Pantry and also led a volunteer team to serve the Our Daily Bread program at the Hillsboro Methodist Church.
She loved cooking (her banana bread was amazing), but she loved her family most, especially that grandson. Her hobby was people. No one was disqualified. She was everybody’s friend, and she prayed for her friends. She will be deeply missed by any who truly knew her.
Sonja is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, John A. Worley; three children, Jared (Wendy Ellis) Worley of Greenfield, Joel Worley of Hillsboro and Jaalah (Brad) McFerrin of Columbus; a grandson, Lewis Worley; a sister, Nona Thorgerson of Mountain View, Miss.; a brother, Arnold “Butch” (Chris) Thorgerson of Mountain View, Miss.; and many friends and extended family.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. Funeral services will follow visitation Saturday March 2 at 1 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Clark Baker will be officiating. Graveside services will be held March 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sonja’s name to the TouchPoint Building Fund, PO Box 82, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
