Shirley June Watters

Shirley June Watters, 79, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Ohio Living Cape May in Wilmington.

She was born June 16, 1943, in West Union, the daughter of the late James Robert Brooks and Mildred (Bennett) Brooks.

She was a member of the Mt. Olive Church of Christ, and she was a country quilter. Shirley enjoyed shopping, eating out and traveling with her late husband, Don.

Shirley is survived by her two children, Barbara Stanforth and Chris (Lori) Clark; seven grandchildren, Jason (Cheryl) Morris, Christin Morris, Veronica (John) Lawson, Maria (Stephen) Edmonson, Christopher Clark, Carrie Clark and Clairissa Clark; 16 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Danny (Beth Ann) Brooks, Beverly Jimison and Linda (Larry Williamson) Parish; two stepchildren, Richard Ray (Jane) Watters and Linda M. (Michael) Hudson; six step-grandchildren, Madelaine (Kelvin) Parent, Michael (Danielle) Hudson Jr., Richard R. Watters Jr., Melinda L. (James) Davis, Noelle (Damon) Hahn and Brandon (Marissa) Smyczek; and numerous step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Don” Watters, on April 11, 2022; and a son-in-law, Kevin Stanforth on Dec. 31, 2021.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Church of Christ, 10021 Mad River Rd, New Vienna 45159. Funeral services will follow visitation at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Church of Christ. Burial will follow services in the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Shirley’s name to the Mt. Olive Church of Christ, P.O. Box 147, New Vienna, Ohio 45159.
