Shane Murphy

Shane Murphy, 61, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

He was born Aug. 1, 1962 in Gallipolis, the son of the late Jack W. and Marguerite J. (Strunk) Murphy.

Shane was a graduate of Western Brown High School and attended Southern State Community College. He attended the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church. He was a lifelong painter and had worked for 15 years at the Holiday Inn at Eastgate. Twenty years ago, he was asked to help at Westview Motors during deer season so the help could go hunting and never left.

He was fun-loving, enjoyed music and loved to dance. He was a friend to all and enjoyed being in their presence.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Brenda Murphy of Georgetown, Ky.; two nephews, Jeremy (Jessica) Murphy and Chris Murphy, both of Georgetown, Ky.; niece, Jessica (Justin) Morgan of Berea, Ky.; great nieces and nephew, Kinsey, Chloe, Claire and Nick; a host of special friends; and many friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Murphy.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Matt Burns will preside.

Gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.

Burial of cremains will be held at a later date in the family cemetery in Kentucky.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church, 8080 state Route 124, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
