Sandra Lee Burnett
Sandra “Sandy” Lee (Winters) Burnett, 82, of Highland, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 5, 2025, surrounded by her family at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
She was born March 10, 1942 in Highland, the daughter of the late Emery “Speed” Winters and Dorothy (Moore) Winters.
Sandy was a faithful Christian and was baptized at the Pricetown Church of Christ. She was a 1960 graduate of Fairfield High School and soon after graduation she married the love of her life, Ronald E. Burnett, on Sept. 4, 1960. Sandy began her working career at the Leesburg Dairy Bar, she was also a farmer’s wife, she owned and operated Sandy’s Craft and Video Shop in Highland, she worked at Airborne Express for 10 years, and what she enjoyed most was helping watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sandy carried a special fondness for the timeless art of needlework, the intricate challenge of puzzles, and especially the joyous hunt of yard sales and antiquing. Her love for Coca-Cola was a small part of her personality that brought immense joy to her day-to-day life. However, above all her interests and pastimes, Sandy's most precious moments were those spent surrounded by her family, her cherished grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love, of family values and an appreciation for the simple things in life.
Sandy is survived by her three children, Richard (Mary Lynn) Burnett of Greenfield, Shawnda (John) Duncan of Samantha and Emery (Rita) Burnett of Highland; four grandchildren, Leah (Chris) Salyer, Megan (Kyle) Patterson, Abby Burnett and Justin (Lindsey) Burnett; 10 great-grandchildren, Zoey, Bryant, Kentley, Avery, Ella, Callie, Ada, Rezzi, Ruger and Riley; a brother, John (Kay) Winters of Leesburg; special pets, Buster and Bowser; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors who loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald E. Burnett on Aug. 24, 2006; a brother, Emery Winters Jr.; and her best friend/sister she never had, Jane Williams.
