Sandra Kay Jenkins

Sandra Kay Jenkins, 76, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully after her long, courageous seven-year battle with cancer, Monday, Oct. 14, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 13, 1948, in Hillsboro, Ohio, the daughter of the late Eldon and Wanda (Weibley) Rhoads.

Sandra grew up in Hillsboro, and she was a 1966 Hillsboro High School graduate. She enjoyed working as the HR manager for K-Mart for 35 years and part time at the Hillsboro Library for eight years. She loved sitting on her sun porch reading next to her beloved dog, Scrappy. Her will to never give up will be remembered by everyone who loved her.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Lisa Beery of Hillsboro; granddaughter, Brittany Jenkins of Leesburg; a bonus granddaughter, Melissa McPherson of Leesburg; two aunts, Joy Valentine and Rosie Newman; one uncle, Dale (Mary) Rhoads; special friends, Julie Smith and Fred and Michele Beery; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” E. Jenkins in 2003; a daughter, Melinda “Mindy” Jenkins in 1994; a brother, Jim Rhoads; and a sister, Linda Mullenix.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 18, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place following visitation Friday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Cynthiana Cemetery.
