Ruth Ellen (Stone) Duncan, 76, of Leesburg, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Heartland of Hillsboro.

She was born September 29, 1934 in Marion County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Dewey F. and Frances Barclay Stone.

She was a member of the Leesburg Methodist Church, had been a teacher in the Leesburg-Fairfield School District for more than 35 years, was a former board member of the Highland County Children Services, and was a member of both the O.E.A. and the F.E.A.

She is survived by her husband of more than 55 years, Lewis Duncan; son and daughter-in-law John and Shawnda Duncan of Leesburg; grandchildren, Joshua (Lindsay) Houck of Washington C.H., and Amanda (Eric) Scott of Greenfield; and three great-grandchildren, Alexis Houck, Hannah Houck, and Kailyn Scott.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Lynn Lucas.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Leesburg United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Knauff will officiate. Burial will follow in the Samantha Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. The Turner Funeral Home, Leesburg, is serving the family.
