Robert 'Bobby' E. Hudson

Robert “Bobby” E. Hudson, 91, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Friday, March 24, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Sept. 19, 1931 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Isaac and Sallie (Daye) Hudson.

Bobby was a Hillsboro High School graduate, and he excelled in football. After high school, Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, serving three years and one year abroad during the Korean War. Once completing his duty in the Marine Corps, Bobby worked as a nursing assistant for many years at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center and as a construction contractor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, tending to his garden every year, and he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Ames Hudson, whom he married on Jan. 3, 1953; five children, Melinda Hudson of Columbus, Terri Hudson of Columbus, Ashley (Barry) Rose of Marion, Brett (Cara) Hudson of Hillsboro and Amber (Rajan) Treadwell of Dayton; 10 grandchildren, Tasha Cook, Nicholas Cook, Landon Zimmerman, Trinity Womelsdorf, Matthew Womelsdorf, Nathaniel Rose, Kendall Hudson, Briella Hudson, Hadley Hudson and Kailani Treadwell; two great-grandchildren, Ava Marie and Maria Nicole; a special niece, Tina Jane Hudson of Hillsboro; and several more nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert E. Hudson, Jr.; a daughter, Laurie Ann Perry; six sisters, Ruby Hudson Stewart, Elizabeth Hudson Stewart, Sarah Hudson Captain, Myrtle Hudson Ford, Lucille Hudson Kittrell, and Rosie Hudson Plear; five brothers, Joseph Hudson, Isaac Hudson, Lloyd Hudson, James Hudson, and John E. Hudson.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Services will be 1 p.m. March 28 at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
