Robert 'Barney' Lee Lawson

Robert “Barney” Lee Lawson, 74, of Leesburg, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023 at his home. 

He was born April 8, 1949 on a farm in Leesburg, the son of the late Raymond and Zelma Hughes Lawson. 

Robert was a graduate of Fairfield High School in Leesburg. Bob was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. 

He is survived by his wife Barbara Rapp Lawson, whom he married April 15, 1971; one son, Craig (Lindsey) Lawson of Leesburg; four grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Carson Lawson, Aaliyah Lawson, Averi Lawson and Bexlee Lawson; two brothers, James (Kelsey) Lawson of Merritt Island, Fla. and Eugene Lawson of Stokesdale, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Lawson; and twin sons, Jeffrey and Timothy Lawson. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at High Top Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Make a Wish Foundation, 1702 E. Highland Ave., Suite 400. Phoenix, Ariz. 85016.
