Richard W. Newman

Richard W. Newman, 87, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2023 at Highland District Hospital. 

He was born Nov. 14, 1935 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Willard and Marguerite (Perdue) Newman. 

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the North American M.G. A Register as well as the Model A Ford Club of America. He attended the Union Church of Christ. 

Mr. Newman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia “Pat” (Hart) Newman, whom he married Oct. 8, 1960 in Mendon; and three nephews, David (Annette) Jordan and Danny Jordan, both of Lynchburg, and Dale (Judy) Jordan of Hillsboro. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Newman. 

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Tim Seevers will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Thursday from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
