Rebecca 'Janie' Coonrod

Rebecca “Janie” Coonrod, 68, of Leesburg, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024 at home.
 
She was born Oct. 19, 1955 in Fayette County, the daughter of William and Alpha Murphy.  
 
Rebecca was a 1974 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and was a nursing assistant most of her life. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and going out to eat, and she never met a stranger.
 
She cared for and nurtured many of her grandchildren and was greatly loved by them all. She enjoyed telling people about how many grandchildren she had, and she always included every person that ever called her Mammaw.  
 
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Coonrod, whom she married Oct. 19, 1981; one daughter, Kelly Willman of Leesburg; two sons, Jeremy (Tonya) Faulconer of Greenfield and Jason “Mike” (Lynn) Faulconer of Greenfield; 28 grandchildren; Briton, Karissa, Chelsey, Jasmine, Joey, Gus, Casie, Alyssa, Storm, Gavin, Sierra, Caden, Haydee, Hayden, Trinity, Bailey, Kenzie, Sadie Grace, Gauge, Ryker, Rylee, Harlee, Abby, Remington, Nichole, Alton, Jacob and Rebecca; 30 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Sheese of Newark, Terry Sheese of Coshocton and Allen (Brenda) Sheese of Newark; one sister, Patricia McWhorter of Newark; several nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Alfred Coonrod II; and special friends, Emily “Bonnie” Hester, Aimee Cox, Davonna “Dee” Dillon, Susan Lute, Veronica McCarty and Jimmy Hester, who was like a son to her.
 
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle “Mikki” Wooten; one stillborn great-granddaughter, Gracie; two sisters, Mary A. “Gus” Moon and Maxine Swift; one brother, Ormand “Bud” Meredith; and both parents.
 
Funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Todd Ernst officiating. Cremation will follow.
 
Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
