Raymond H. Whiting

Raymond H. Whiting of Hillsboro, born Sept. 21, 1942, passed away June 29, 2024, after a long battle with illness.

Surrounded by the love of his family, he took his last breath with those he loved. Raymond was a devoted husband to his sweetheart Lilly since Oct. 30, 1965. Raymond waited until Lilly left the room before deciding it was time, showing his undying consideration and strength even in his final moments.

He was Husband, Daddy, Papaw, Great-Grandpa, Pap and friend to so many. His loved ones are incredibly blessed to have had him in their lives. Raymond was more than just the head of the family; he was the patriarch and guiding light. He fought the good fight, living a life full of honor and love. 

Raymond was known for his kindness and generosity. He enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City, going to the casino, rooting for his beloved Bengals and doing anything alongside his sweetheart. Proudly serving his country as a United States Marine, Raymond lived a life of dedication and sacrifice. 

Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Lilly (Fryman) Whiting, whom he cherished until his last breath; his children, Fay (Lisa) Gibson of Hillsboro, Gay (Robert) Boyce of Cincinnati, Raymond (Sheila) Whiting Jr. of Hillsboro, Chris (Michelle) Whiting of Hillsboro and Gina (Jerry) Wilson of Washington Court House; 14 grandchildren, Ashley (JT) Turba of Cincinnati, Lilly (Earl) Hamm of Blanchester, Nicholas (Amberlyn) Gibson of Dayton, Emily (Zachary) Vance of Lebanon, Lacretia Sharrett of Hillsboro, Tayler (Andrew) Dickson of Hillsboro, Jaden McFadden of Jamestown, Tyler Whiting of Hillsboro, Victoria (Wesley) Sears of Blanchester, Trey (Morgan) Whiting of Hillsboro, Abigail Garrison (Leslie Thomas) of Washington Court House, Jade Wollman of Sioux Falls, S.D., Joshua Wollman of Cincinnati and Jerry Wilson Jr. of Washington Court House; and his great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Athena, Brooklyn, Camrynn, Christopher, Claire, Eliana, Elise, Gatlin, Hayden, Heaven, Jackson, Jacob, Jett, John Edward III, Layla Jo, Leann, Nicholas Jr., Nolan, Rhett, Rowen and Savannah. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Roger, Sarah and Ronald; and his grandchildren, Joseph Michael and Christopher Sean Jr. 

Visitation will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro, where a funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. The Highland County Veterans Honor Guard will present military honors at the funeral home immediately following the conclusion of the funeral service. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow.
