Ralph David “Dave” Hoggatt, 81, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024 at Bethesda North Hospital.

He was born Feb. 9, 1943 in Mariemont, the son of the late Ralph Johnson and Lucille Swaine Hoggatt.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a computer operator but was also a mechanic and enjoyed working on small engines. Away from his tools and engines, Dave was an avid square dancer and jokester. His humor brought joy to many, and his love for telling jokes was equally matched by his love for a good laugh. His ability to light up a room will be sorely missed. He also loved fishing and traveling, always eager for a new adventure.

Most importantly, David was a family man. His love for his wife, Alice, was evident in every aspect of his life. His laughter, his jokes, his love for his family and friends, and his passion for travel and fishing were the defining attributes of his personality.

Dave is survived by his daughter, Darci (Mark) Hedges of Hillsboro; granddaughters, Emma Hedges and Erin Hedges; sister, Joan Gray; nieces and nephews; and many great friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jane Hoggatt, on Dec. 9, 2018; and his brothers, Mike Hoggatt, Gary Hoggatt and Terry Hoggatt.

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated, and a gathering of friends will take place Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 from 10 a.m. until noon at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dave’s name to Highland County Humane Society, PO Box 471, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
