Peggy Ann Lucas

Peggy Ann Lucas, 86, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at home.  

She was born July 18, 1937 in Greenfield to Kenneth and Corinne (Graves) Streitenberger, on a farm on Parrett Road. She lived her entire life in the Lyndon area and passed away at the Longbranch Farm, where she has lived since 1973.
 
She graduated from Buckskin High School, class of 1955, and Wilmington College in 1970. She was an elementary teacher at the Greenfield Schools, retiring after 30 years, and enjoyed a second career at Castle Hallmark that lasted 10 years. She was proud to be a part of the GEVSD and was instrumental in the building of the Imagination Kingdom as a crew leader.
 
She was a member of the South Salem United Methodist Church, where she played the organ and piano for over 70 years, and was also a member of the Highland County Retired Teachers, South Salem United Methodist Women and Y-Gradale. She had been an adviser to the Buckskin Stitchers & Mixers 4-H Club and played canasta with a group of dear friends for 50 years. She was a sports enthusiast, from the Reds and Bengals to our own McClain Tigers. She loved to host gatherings for her family and friends, which often included singing together, especially with her sisters.
 
She is survived by her husband, Richard Lucas, whom she married June 26, 1957; two daughters, Lu Ann (Kevin) Roe of Hillsboro and Lynette (Robert) McCray of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Molly (Waylon) McNutt, Landry (Abby) Roe, Mackenzie (Chase) Henson, Katie Pryor and Berton McCray; 10 great-grandchildren, Payton Pryor, Luca Matesic, Thomas Dean Matesic, Paisley Pryor, Larah Henson, Stella Henson, Harper Roe, Porter Roe, Mila McNutt and Marida Henson; three sisters, Janie King, Carol (Lewis) Speakman and Jo Ellen (Tim) Gossett; one brother, Ken D. (Sharon) Streitenberger; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Garrison and Nancy Wilson; and two brothers-in-law, Otis Wagner and Franklin (Jan) Lucas.
 
She was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Edward King, Glenn Garrison and Victor Lucas; sister-in-law, Fran Wagner; and both parents.  
 
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 6 at 11 a.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield, conducted by her brother, Ken D. Streitenberger, and her nephew, Kurt King. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
