Norman Hopkins, 89, of Hillsboro died August 29, 2009 at his residence. He was born Nov. 29, 1919 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of the late Warney and Leona Cook Hopkins Sr. Mr. Hopkins was a lifelong farmer and had also worked in construction. He was a member of the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. He is survived by six daughters, Joan (James) Howard of Circleville, Ruth Ann (Edgar) Ward of Vanlue, Ohio, Ellen Faye Hopkins of Leesburg, Helen Mae (John) Barrera of Hillsboro, Margaret Louise Ward of Hillsboro and Linda Sue (William) Mullins of Greenfield, one special son-in-law, L.T. Ward of Waverly; 25 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Warney (Louise) Hopkins Jr. of Hillsboro and two sisters, Betty (Morton) VanBibber of Dayton and Jean (Cedric) Kyle of Arizona. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Malone Hopkins in 1953 and five sisters, Ellie Sheperd, Myrtle Besco, Ruth McGinnis, Ruby Lindsey and Lillie Sheperd. Services were Sept. 2 at the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Wiley Perkins officiated. Burial followed in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation was Sept. 1 at the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Care Hospice, P.O. Box 123, Wilmington, Ohio 45133.
