Nicholas A. Bare
Nicholas A. Bare, 75, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025 with family by his side.
He was born March 28, 1950 in Hillsboro, the son of the late William Julius Bare and Virginia McCoy Bare. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Julie (Bare) Fordyce and Virginia "Susie" (Bare) McCarty.
Nick was an avid trapshooter and loved going to all the shoots he could. His favorite place was Tucson, Ariz. He served in the Air Force Reserves.
Nick married Sharon (Mason) Bare on Sept. 7, 1984. He leaves behind his daughter, Amy (Andy) Mew of South Carolina and his son, Chris (Chrissy) Dodds of South Carolina; as well as his adored grandchildren, Megan Dodds and fiancé Jeremy Meadows, Ethan (Julia) Dodds both of Hillsboro, and Peyton Palermo of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Liam and Lyle Lucas, and Bentley Dodds; niece, Sara (Jonathan) Lindell; nephew, Kyle McCarty both of Columbus; great-nephews, Andrew and Henry Lindell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane and Tom Stephens, Janet and Merideth Chaney, Linda and Tom Hogsett of Hillsboro; as well as many great friends.
The family invite friends and loved ones to visitation Friday, May 23 from 3-6 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Military Rites will be conducted at 6 p.m. by the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard.
Funeral services will be followed immediately afterward by Pastor Lloyd Shoemaker. Keeping with Nick's wishes, he will be cremated.
Memorials may be made in Nick's memory to the Sonner Chapel Church, 4328 Sorg Road, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
