Nancy J. Corder

Nancy J. Corder, 82, of Wilmington, passed away May 3, 2024. 

Nancy was born June 3, 1941 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Edward James and Arline Matilda (Cinkel) Pasek. 

Nancy was attending the Wilmington United Methodist Church while living in Ohio for the past six years. Nancy and Mike began their journey together in West Covina, Calif. Traveling east, they raised their children in Longmont, Colo. Family then moved east and west, so they went further east to Chesapeake, Va., and enjoyed their time being close to Laurie and her family. They were thrilled when they got the opportunity to move back to Colorado. Carrie and her family had moved back to Colorado, so they got some time again with her family. Sadly the altitude in Colorado wasn't friendly to Nancy, so they finally settled in Wilmington and enjoyed their time being near to their son, Michael and his family. 

Nancy loved to sew and was a master at making ice-skating dresses for her daughter, Laurie and many other ice-skaters; she made many matching outfits for her daughters, Carrie and Laurie, when they were very young; she made wedding attire for Michael’s wife. In recent years, she was making quilts and many other items, so it seems there didn’t seem to be anything that she couldn’t sew. Nancy loved football, namely the Denver Broncos and John Elway. Her Aunt Emily Pasek taught her so much about football that Nancy knew more about the game than most men. She had many Denver Broncos’ posters in her sewing room. 

Nancy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, however she was also so loving that many, many children called her Grandma, Nana, and CeeCee. She was born to be a wife and mother. Family was the most important part of her life. In heaven, she will be welcomed in to keep children company until their parents come to join them. 

Surviving Nancy is her loving husband, Michael Edison Corder. Michael and Nancy were married for 65-plus years and were in love since the eighth grade. Mike said that she was the love of his life, the best a man could hope for, and he will miss her terribly. Their love produced three children who survive, Carrie Lynn Sprecher (Thane Sprecher), Laurie June Trotman (P. Gill Trotman) and Michael Rex Corder (M. Deanna [Dohmann] Corder); also surviving are six grandchildren, Lindsey (Sprecher) Martinez, Nicholas Sprecher, Anne Marie Carotenuto, Joseph Michael Carotenuto (Sabreena G. [Ansari] Carotenuto), Kristina Pilar (Corder) Vohsing (Max Vohsing), and Austin Corder (Mariah [Kindice] Corder); nine great-grandchildren, Hailey Martinez, Ayden Martinez, Neveah Martinez, J. Fenix Carotenuto, Dante Carotenuto, Areean Carotenuto, Olivia Pilar Vohsing, Owen Lucas Vohsing and Jackson Rex Corder; a sister, Joyce Marie Pasek; and nephews, Will Dean, Brandon J. Dean, Garrett Dean and Justin Dean and their families. 

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
