Michael Ray Lechner

Michael Ray Lechner, 67, of Martinsville, passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2024 at home with his loved ones.

He was born Nov. 20, 1956 in El Paso, Texas, the son of the late Ted Harold and Annelissa Emile (Schmidt) Lechner.

A U.S. Army Grenada War veteran, Michael worked as a helicopter pilot in the Army and in the tuna fish industry.
 
Surviving are his siblings, Robert Lechner of Arizona, Monica Fields of Martinsville, Susan Michaels of Wilmington, Jeff Lechner and James Lechner, both of the Martinsville area, Richard Lechner of Maryland and Lori Whitten and Brian Lechner, both of Peebles; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his partner, Dean Wade Fauber; and brother, Tom Lechner.
 
Private graveside services will be held Friday, Sept. 13, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, Fla. Public honor services ceremony will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
