Mary Irene Runyon, 91, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Greenfield Skilled Nursing and Rehab.   
 
She was born Feb. 14, 1933 in Lynchburg, the daughter of Hugh Stroud and Irene (Pfister) Deininger.
 
She was a 1951 graduate of Hillsboro High School.
 
She retired in 2004 from Ferno Washington in Wilmington after 35 years of employment.
 
She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Johnson of Greenfield; one son, Frederick Andrew (Tammy) Runyon of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Andrew (Lynnea) Johnson of Columbus, Andrea (Andy) Sloan of Orlando, FL; three great granddaughters, Lyla and Aria Johnson, Zoey Sloan; two brothers, Hugh Gene (Shelia) Deininger of Fruita, CO, David (Katie) Deininger of Cincinnati; one sister, Emma Aber of Hillsboro; and numerous and nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Malone; two sisters, Guienvere Malone, Lois Lyon; and both parents.  
 
Cremation will take place and there will not be a service observed.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Humane Society, 9331 OH-124, Hillsboro 45133.
 
The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
