Mary Fraysier

Mary Fraysier, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2026 at Salyer Adult Group Home.

She was born on Aug. 18, 1940, in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Thurman and Bessie (Sinclair) Dillard. After graduating from Lynchburg-Clay High School with the class of 1958, Mary dedicated much of her life to serving her family and community.

Throughout the years, she held several positions, including working with the Soil Conservation Service, Union Stock Yards, the License Bureau, and the Highland County Board of Elections. She was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an organization she was proud to be a part of. Mary was a woman who found joy in the simple things in life.

She loved homemaking, cooking, gardening, and canning, and took great pride in caring for her home and family. Her greatest joy, however, was the time she spent with the people she loved most — her children and grandchildren. She treasured family gatherings, making memories together, and watching her family grow. Her love, warmth, and devotion to her family will be remembered and cherished for generations to come.

Mary leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her four children, Tony (Tina) Fraysier of Dunnellon, Fla., Kelley Jo Underwood of Hillsboro, Cathy (Scott) Faulconer of Greenfield and J.M. (Denice) Fraysier of Leesburg; one sister, Florence Swearingen of Urbana; fourteen grandchildren, D.J. Pinkerton, Nathanael (Chelsey) Fraysier, Stephanie (John) Peterson, Michaela (Montana) Donner, Dorothy Fraysier, Karsson (Ryan) Profit, Justin (Hannah) Faulconer, Morgan (Anthony) Mugagga, Samuel (Selena) Faulconer, Maysun Faulconer, Mallory Faulconer, Thomas (Jami) Fraysier, Emeline Fraysier, and Collin Clouser; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph R. Fraysier, whom she married on Jan. 28, 1967, and her brother, Raymond Dillard. Private graveside service for the family will be held on Friday, Oct. 2.

There will be a celebration of her life and the memories she leaves behind on Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. at Greater Life Assembly, 12145 N. Shore Drive, Hillsboro, for her family and friends. Red Gallimore will be officiating. The Turner & Son Funeral Home is serving the family.
