Martha Lou Poropat

Martha Lou Poropat, 91, of Lynchburg, formerly of Sesser, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023 at The Laurels of Hillsboro.

She was born July 7, 1932 in Wheatland, Ind., the daughter of the late William and Goldie (Ferrell) Riggle.

Martha liked to knit and crochet. She had many friends. She loved to go to church when she was well enough to go. Martha was a very devout Christian and loved to sing and play the piano. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Martha is survived by her sister, Linda Gossett of Lynchburg; great-niece, Sammy Logsdon of Iowa, whom Martha raised; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Poropat; and several brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 11, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Barker Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made in Martha’s memory to Turner & Son Funeral Home, PO Box 127, Hillsboro to help with burial expenses.
