Marilyn J. Whiting

Marilyn J. Whiting, 78, of Wilmington, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2024 at her home in Wilmington.  

She was born March 28, 1945 in Martinsville, the daughter of the late Lawrence Whiting and Ethel Mae Morris Whiting.

Marilyn worked as an administrative assistant for Airborne Express.

Marilyn graduated from the Martinsville High School in 1963, the best and last class to graduate from there. She was the best "Grockie" ever to her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Sherry (Keith) Barrett; son, Steven Leigh; grandson, Brad Dunn; granddaughter, Jessica Dunn; granddaughter, Graceyn Leigh; and great-grandchildren, Ella and Elias.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by sisters, Viola Hartman and Wyoma Taylor; brothers, James F. Whiting, Donald H. Whiting and Roger Whiting; and a nephew, Arthur Hartman.

At Marilyn's request, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at noon at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home with celebrant Barbara Deibel officiating.
