Marilyn Ann Pegan
Marilyn Ann Pegan, 72, of St. Martin, passed away peacefully Jan. 12, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 9, 1951 in Fayetteville, the daughter of the late Elmer and Dolphine “Dolly” Flischel Kleemeyer.
She was a member of St. Angela Merici St Patrick’s Chapel. She worked at A&M Farm for nearly 40 years, where she met so many wonderful people. Marilyn absolutely loved people, and the word “stranger” did not exist in her vocabulary … only “friend.” She greeted everyone with a smile and a hug. She enjoyed flowers, reading, gardening, dining out, traveling and anything outdoors. Marilyn was affectionately known as “Mom,” “Mamaw,” “Granny P,” “Marv,” “Aunt Mare Mare” and “Menna.” Marilyn will be greatly missed by her beloved dogs Sadie and Penny.
She is survived by her children, Sandy (Jim) Balon of Fayetteville, Eddie (Elisa) Pegan of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Kristie (Shawn) Schoellman of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Abigail Balon, Emma Balon, Jeb Balon, Giulia Pegan, Giacomo Pegan and Victoria Pegan; siblings, Paul (Harriett) Kleemeyer, Virginia Quallen and Richard Kleemeyer all of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Peggy (Clifford) Camp of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Eddie” Pegan; her sister, Caridel Kleemeyer; and brother-in-law Ralph Quallen.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel in St Martin. Mass of Christian burial will take place Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., also at Sacred Heart Chapel (former Brown County Ursuline/Chatfield Campus). Burial will follow at St. Martin Cemetery.
