Lillie Alice Porter
Lillie Alice Porter, 72 of Peebles, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024.
She was born Feb. 6, 1952 in Pike County, the daughter of the late William Orville and Ulai Mae (Thompson) Spence.
Alice graduated as valedictorian of Western High School in 1970. She also earned her AAS degree with honors from Shawnee State University in 1983, after which she had a long career working as a medical laboratory technician. In her spare time, Alice always enjoyed painting and had a talent for writing songs. She loved her family and her animals dearly, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Alice is survived by one daughter, Amanda Unger of Chillicothe; three adult granddaughters, Shelby (Jake) Carney of Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Whitney and Riley Williams of Greenfield; one young grandson of Chillicothe; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Margaret Malicote of Hillsboro, Virginia (Joe) Vesey of Hillsboro and Patricia Rhoads of Washington Court House; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her sisters, Becky Gilbert and Davene Reed.
A gathering of family and friends is tentatively scheduled at the Westwood Cemetery, 2400 Pin Hook Road (Pike County), Hillsboro, with burial following services.
