Leonard 'Leo' Neal Morris
Leonard “Leo” Neal Morris, 60, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the Highland District Hospital.
He was born May 2, 1963 in Broward County, Fla., the son of the late Quincy Adams Morris and Shirley Rose (Snider) Morris.
Leo was a Hillsboro High School graduate. He worked as an engineer for the American Commercial Barge Line for over 40 years, and he was known as Chief to all his coworkers. He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, and his true passion was building large remote-controlled helicopters from scratch. Starting from an early age, he enjoyed taking electronics and engines apart and putting them back together, and there isn’t anything he couldn’t fix. What he loved the most was spending time with his family, and he adored his three grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Leo is survived by his daughter, Heather (Codey) Tate of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Jayce, Caycen and Aylah; two siblings, Karen Morris and Kenneth Morris; a nephew, David; a niece, Sarah; and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Morris.
Celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
