Lee Koogler
Lee Koogler, a dedicated attorney and cherished member of his community, passed away Aug. 13, 2025, at the age of 51.
He was born on March 15, 1974, in Dayton and spent his life making a profound impact on the lives of those around him.
Lee was proud to call Hillsboro his home, where he passionately practiced law as a self-employed attorney. His commitment to justice and advocacy was matched only by his deep love for his family and community.
Lee was not only a legal professional but also a spirited leader, serving as the President of the City Council and a past President of the Rotary Club. He was an active member of the Highland County Bar Association and the Elks, where he built lasting friendships and gave back to the community he loved.
An avid sports enthusiast, Lee enjoyed playing pickleball, golf and tennis, often gathering with friends and family for friendly competitions and camaraderie. His enthusiasm for life was infectious.
Lee is survived by his father, Len (Beverly) Koogler; his beloved children, Abigail Koogler, Hannah Koogler and Michael Koogler; siblings, Laura (Eddie) Turner, Greg (Janet) Lucas, half-sister, Corina Koogler; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
His legacy of kindness, passion and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Lee was preceded in death by his mother, Merryle (Shaw) Lucas-Hixon; stepfather, Dr. Lucas; and grandparents, Wanda Robinson, Richard Shaw, Hazel and Leonard Koogler.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
