Kris Lee (McGinnis) Myers

Kris Lee (McGinnis) Myers, 76, passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.  

She was born April 19, 1950 in Dover, Ohio to her parents, Gaila Marie (Erwin) McGinnis and James Perry McGinnis.

Kris taught Junior High Language Arts in both Hillsboro and Granville, Ohio. She had a heart for her students and stayed in touch with many of them, even after retirement. One thing her family could count on was her love of reading and sharing books with her nieces and nephews. They loved opening a box full of books she’d chosen just for them. She also wrote many letters over the years to the people she cared about, checking in and encouraging them. Kris enjoyed knitting and adored her Bengal cats, Grace and Ruby. She’ll be remembered for her positive spirit and her many words of encouragement.

Those surviving Kris, cherish the time they spent with her. She’s survived by her sister, Holly (Mike) Tissandier; brothers, Timothy (Penny) McGinnis, Michael (Pamela) McGinnis and sister-in-law, Ann (George) Snyder and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jeffrey Paul Myers; and both parents.

Kris’s wishes were to be cremated. Her remains will reside at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.
