Katie Griffith passed away Friday, March 22, 2024, leaving behind her cabin on earth for her mansion in glory.

She was born into this world July 6, 1931 in Middletown and grew up in Belfast.

She was the second child of her family, after her brother Gene, followed by Kenny, Wanda Faye, Carlos, Marie and Jr. She married Laurence B. “Griff” Griffith, and they had four beautiful children: Tom, Dennis, David and Jackie. She and Griff were married for over 55 years when he was taken to heaven. They really enjoyed their retirement years when they were finally able travel more.

Throughout her years, she was a Girl Scout leader, a champion bowler, hard worker and an award-winning Christmas lights decorator for how she and Griff decorated their yard and home in their heyday. She was passionate about her flower and vegetable gardens and thoroughly enjoyed watching her birds. She loved her church family at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. It was the highlight of her week to be able to go hear Pastor Zile and see all her friends, a few of whom she considered her very best friends. She worked at several Great Scot stores, including in Hillsboro and Chillicothe. After she retired from working full-time for a couple of years, she went to work at SSCC, where she was a beloved coworker for over 14 years.

In the last 40 years, she was blessed by seven grandchildren coming into her life: Brad Griffith (Jessica), April Storms (Jason Woods), Paij Griffith (Patrick Garman), Quinn Griffith, Seth (Jenna) Potts, Sydney Potts and Kyle (Carrie) Nowak. Those grandchildren gave her 10 great-grandchildren: Schuyler, Trinity, Camron, Adyson, Lorelai, Lincoln, Aiden, Evelyn, and soon to make an appearance, Millie Katherine and Willow. She is survived by three of her children, Dennis (Karen) Griffith, David (Becca) Griffith and Jackie Potts; and daughter-in-law, Barb Fleming; her seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenny (Ginger) Music and Hollin Music Jr.; sister, Marie Zile; and longtime friends, Ann Curtain and Lee Bishop.

In addition to her parents, Bert Crabtree and Nellie Crabtree Wilson, she was preceded in death by her husband, Griff; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Terry Griffith; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Faye and John Dillinger; brothers, Gene (Bobbie) Music and Carlos (Kathy) Music; sister-in-law, Brenda Music; brother-in-law, John Zile; and dear friend, Betty Bishop.

A visitation will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of The Nazarene, when a funeral service will begin. Pastor Tom Zile will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, 8230 U.S. Highway 50, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
