Katherine Faye "Kathie" Mitchell, 74, of the Sugar Tree Ridge community, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025 at her home.  
 
She was born Nov. 6, 1950 in Highland County, the daughter of the late Walter Clarence and Lena Faye (Shaw) Frost. 

On Nov. 27, 1970 in Wise, Va., she was united into marriage to Ival "Mitch" Mitchell, who passed away on Aug. 29, 2020.
 
Kathie was a 1969 graduate of Whiteoak High School. She was a member and vice president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 1161 and was a member of the Hillsboro V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 9094. She was a longtime employee of Robertshaw Controls and had retired from the Hillsboro Post Office as a rural mail carrier.
 
Surviving are her three daughters, Mindy (Mike) Tissot, Mandy (Chris) Mitchell-Cox and Mona (life partner Marcus) Mitchell; stepdaughter, Michelle (Curt) Grigsby; stepson, Jimmy (Lisa) Mitchell; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Danny Thokey) Tissot, Jared (Mekinna Little) Tissot, Sydni Daniels, Shane Mitchell-Cox, Shawn Mitchell-Cox, Samuel Mitchell-Cox, Kyle Curran, Kameron Curran and Konner Curran; half-sister, Jana (Mark) Newton; half-brother, Gerald Frost Jr.; an aunt, Virginia R. Hunt, and her faithful K-9 companion, Maggie.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, Kathie was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Clarence "Buddy" Frost; three half-sisters, Alice Pauline Frost, Kaye Aldridge and Sharon Bales.
 
Friends will be received at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 4-6 p.m. Burial will take place in the Dale Cemetery, Connersville, Ind. at a later date.
