Karen Jean (Greene) Barr
Karen Jean (Greene) Barr, 59, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born June 6, 1965 in Greenfield to Donald and Patsy (Carter) Greene.
Karen graduated from the Edward Lee McClain High School (class of 1985). She then spent 15 years (1980-95) dispatching alongside her mother at the Greenfield Area Life Squad, 10-plus years working alongside her mother at Ameristop and other local convenience stores, multiple years as a ticket taker for the McClain Athletic Department, 13 years (2011-24) volunteering at the Greenfield Area Christian Cente and numerous years in childcare.
Karen was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Greenfield, where she took pride in her roles in the nursery and the kitchen. She was also a part of the Helen Barrett Missionary Circle. If there is one thing that everyone knew about Karen, it’s that she absolutely loved children, especially her grandchildren. They were her world.
As Karen has always said, “Life goes on…” and so it shall. Her legacy will continue in many ways.
Karen is survived by her husband, Gregory Barr (1984); daughter and son-in-law, Kristen (Doug) Miller; five grandchildren, AraBella, Kendryck, Declan, Luca and Jamison Miller; her three sisters, Donna (Greg) Long, Glenna (Bill) Rowe and Lori Huston; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Alexa Waterman, Nora and Cindy Coleman and Garnet Brammer.
Karen was preceded in death by both parents, Donald and Patsy (Carter) Greene; grandparents, Heber Greene Sr. and Ruby Greene and Emil Carter and Nell Carter; and brother-in-law, Dennis Huston.
Funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Greenfield with Pastor Chris Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the church.
The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
