Juanita Louise (Haines) Kelley
Juanita Louise (Haines) Kelley, 71, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024.
Mrs. Kelley was born in Wilmington and attended Edward Lee McClain High School in Greenfield. She was a graduate of the Ohio State University and later completed her master’s degree at Xavier University. Mrs. Kelley was an elementary school teacher and librarian in the Hillsboro City Schools district, where she impacted the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of young people in Hillsboro.
She retired in 2005, but her love of people and desire to serve never changed. She continued to tutor students, and served as secretary of the First Baptist Church in Hillsboro for several years.
She was a beloved mother, wife and sister in Christ. Today she suffers no more, and her loved ones know she is walking in the garden with the Lord, never knowing pain or sadness again. They can go on knowing she is blissfully happy, and that they will see her again one day.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dale Gene Kelley; her son, Sean (Dawn) Kelley; her daughter, Kimberly Scott; and eight grandchildren, Chloe Kelley, Hailey Kelley, McKayla Long, Alexis Kountz, Kelley Scott, Ashley Scott, Eldon Scott and Justin Scott.
Mrs. Kelley was preceded in death by her parents, James E. Haines Sr. and Margaret Ann Wisecup of Greenfield.
Visitation will begin Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 at 4 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 241 East Main Street, Hillsboro. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joe Rhonemus officiating.
