John Vincent Shoemaker

John Vincent Shoemaker, 79, of Midland and the Georgetown VA community, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 at the Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia.  
  
He was born Jan. 16, 1944 in Cincinnati, the son of the late Vincent Clarence and Gladys Lucille (Kelly) Shoemaker.  

On Jan. 19, 2002, he married Virginia L. “Ginny” Fleming Shoemaker, who passed away Jan. 1, 2020.

A Vietnam War-era U.S. Air Force veteran, John retired as an operator for the Wilmington Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  
Surviving are his children, Michelle, Theresa, Rebecca and Tracy Shoemaker; stepchildren, Terri Jo (David) Creditt of Midland and Ryan (Dawn) Felheim; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister; and a brother.

In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by a brother.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Springfield Friends Cemetery, 190 Todds Fork Road, Wilmington. The Wilmington American Legion Post Honor Guard will accord full military honors. The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, is assisting the family.
