John Scott Grimsley

John Scott Grimsley, 58, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023.  

He was born on May 14, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas at the Reese Air Force Base, the son of Roger and Edie (Barnett) Grimsley. 

Scott was a graduate of Johnston High School in Austin, Texas and he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas. Scott worked for over 10 years as a program manager for the Ohio State University. He enjoyed theatre, arts and people, and he especially loved his family and friends.  

Scott will be greatly missed.  

Scott is survived by his parents, Roger and Edie Grimsley; two siblings, Bradley (Theresa) Grimsley of Hoschton, Ga. and Stephanie (Brandon) Haines of Leesburg; two aunts, Carol (Dan) Ridgeway of Leesburg and Carol Koury of Bradenton, Fla.; an uncle, Earl Barnett of Highland; three special friends, Emily Toney, Jenny James and Jenny Kent; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly.  

He was preceded in death by a special uncle, Gary Barnett. 

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 at the Leesburg Friends Church. Pastors Josh Dixon and John Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  

There will be no visitation prior to the funeral.
