John Richard Douglas
John Richard Douglas, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Hospice of Hope Inpatient Center in Seaman.
He was born on Dec. 16, 1938, in Sinking Spring, the son of the late Noble G. and Ora Olive (Brown) Douglas.
John was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent many years with the Moore Drop Forge Company before retiring as a maintenance technician from Highland District Hospital. His strong work ethic and quiet dependability touched many lives throughout his career and in his community.
On Dec. 26, 1958, he married the love of his life, Anna Musser, in Hillsboro. Together, they built a life grounded in love, family, and shared values.
John is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Anna Musser Douglas; one daughter, Darlene Teague of Hillsboro; one daughter-in-law, Kimberly Douglas of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Brandy (Jeff) Waller of Hillsboro, John Graham Douglas of Hillsboro, and Kylie Anne Douglas of Charlotte, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Waller, Sunny Waller and Leighanne Waller; and very special friends, Phillip and Rona Achor and Walter and Darma Cornett. He is also survived by one sister, Jean Johnson of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, David J. Douglas, on June 19, 2024; his brother, Chester Douglas; and his sister, Vera Grove.
John will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart and the legacy of love he leaves behind in the hearts of his family and friends.
A public visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 21 from 5-8 p.m. at Turner & Son Funeral Home. Cremation and burial of his cremains will take place at a later date in Marshall Cemetery.
