John Henry Rowland
John Henry Rowland, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 8, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe.
He was born Oct. 5, 1950, the son of the late Hollis “Holly” D. Rowland and Susan Kathryn MacIntosh Rowland in Franklin.
John was the definition of a great man who was so humble and giving. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. His biggest hobby was fishing. John was a talented and an award-winning watercolor artist. He was a jack of all trades who could do a little bit of anything, specially building furniture and raising animals.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia Moore Rowland; daughters, Carrie (Robert) Case of Highland County and Kelly (Eddie) Harigel of Leesburg; grandchildren, Cory Case, Ashley (Ricky) Deatley, Bree Biscoe, Ryan Biscoe and Caitlin Harigel; great-grandchildren, Rylan and Sawyer; siblings, Daryl Ray (Jane) Rowland of Peebles, Steve (Jeannette) Rowland of Kettering and Gary Rowland of Peebles; special nephew, Matt Rowland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Haylee Harigel.
Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Services will follow.
Military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will be presented at the conclusion of the service. Following the services, a meal will be served at Faith Fire Freedom Church in Carmel.
In keeping with his wishes, John will be cremated. Memorials may be made in to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
