John E. Gibbs

John E. Gibbs, 67, of Washington Court House, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 28, 2024 at his home. 

He was born Aug. 17, 1956, in Mt. Vernon, the son of the late James S. Gibbs and Edna Ruth (Cole) Gibbs. 

“Jack made his passion for driving his profession.” His career took him Nationwide, Coast to Coast in logistics and long-haul trucking. His roots were in Leesburg, where he was most fond.  

John is survived by his brother, James R. (Susan) Gibbs of Cincinnati; children, Brandon Gibbs of Florida and April Leonard of Hillsboro; stepson, Todd (Leisa) Clay; stepdaughters, Leanne (Ronnie) Haffner and Holly (Don) Clay; grandchildren, Zach (Olivia) Clay, Jake (Sarah) Clay, Alexis Meddock, Dillon Jones and Kylee Jones; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Remi Clay, Levi Hailey, Blake and Sophia Clay. 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his grandson, Cody Clay; and sister, Nancy K. (Richard) Graves. 

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hillsboro Cemetery (left off US Route 50, right onto state Route 138, cemetery will be on your left). A gathering of friends and family will be held at 11:30 a.m. following the service at the J Lanes Fine Meats, Deli, and Grill in Leesburg.
