JoAnne M. Knight
JoAnne M. Knight, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.
She was born June 15, 1938, in Dayton, the daughter of the late Ben C. and Elizabeth H. (Horner) Mears.
JoAnne was a graduate of Springboro High School. She was a member of the Highland County Farm Bureau. On Aug. 3, 1957 in Oregonia at the little church, she married the love and companion of her life, Wesley "Wes" Knight. They started their lives together there. Wesley's dream was to farm and in 1973, she and Wes purchased a farm on Harriett Road at the edge of North Union. There they raised their three sons, built their home and created a thriving, beautiful farm.
JoAnne was blessed with three loving sons, Douglas (Cheryl Hoover) Knight of Hillsboro, Jeff (Christa) Knight of Hillsboro and Steve (Karen) Knight of Sardinia; nine dear grandchildren, Emily Knight (Adam Richard May), Clarinda Knight (Charles Eric) Hans, Elizabeth Knight (Benjamin Hyun), J.D. (Shelby Fitzgerald) Knight, Nicki (Tate) Erkenbrecher, Caleb (Sydnee Avila) Knight, Michael (Kristina Scott) Knight, Charles "C.J." (Sheyann Smith) Knight and Brittany (Nick Meyers) Knight; 13 great-grandchildren, Bentley Ward, Bryson Cloud, Gage Erkenbrecher, Parker Erkenbrecher, Sadie, Sophie, Elijah, Xander, Harper Knight, Elara Meyers, Charles Han, Mase Erkenbrecher and Nevaeh Knight; a brother, Marlin "Butch" (Kim) Mears of Mt. Orab; two sisters, Betty (Veron) Tompkins and Charlotte Huelene Noel both of West Carrollton; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
Besides her parents, JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wesley "Wes" Knight; and two brothers, Ben Mears Jr. and Russell Mears.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at the funeral home.
Pastor Llyod Shoemaker will officiate with burial following in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.
Family requests memorials to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
