Joan E. Snyder

Joan E. Snyder, 85, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the Legacy of Hillsboro. 

She was born Oct. 14, 1938 in New Petersburg, the daughter of the late Raymond Jack Kennedy and Catherine (Everhart) Kennedy. 

Joan was a member of the New Petersburg United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. 

Joan is survived by five children, Kathy Fleagle of Lakeland, Fla., Billie (Melvin) Soales of Greenfield, Colena (James) Deeter of Hillsboro, Sandra (James) Jones of Leesburg and Kenneth (Barbara) Snyder of Hillsboro; 27 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Gail; and several more nieces, nephews and friends. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James John Snyder Jr., on Jan. 18, 1988; three sons, John “Johnny” (Cathy) Snyder, Rick Snyder and Brian Snyder; two grandchildren, Chris Snyder and Garth Snyder; and a sister, Louellen Kennedy. 

Private burial will be held in the Gilboa Cemetery at a later date. The Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
