Jeff McCoy

Jeff McCoy, 71, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe surrounded by his family. 
 
He was born Sept. 30, 1952 in Peebles, the son of the late Frank Burnell and Mary Ann (McComas) McCoy. On Nov. 24, 1974, he was united into marriage to Jane Griffith McCoy.
 
Jeff was a member of Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, the Highland County Fair Board for 30 years and the Highland County Agriculture Society Hall of Fame. Jeff was a former special deputy with the Highland County Sheriff’s Department, an alley boss at Union Stock Yards and had taught driver education for 25 years. Jeff was a lifelong farmer and rancher in the area. He owned and operated McCoy Cattle Company and furnished timed event cattle for rodeos all over the country. He still holds numerous basketball records in the Peebles High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Jeff also served in the Ohio National Guard.
 
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Jane A. McCoy; two sons, Seth (Randi) McCoy and Clint (Tiffany) McCoy, both of Hillsboro; two daughters, Sarah McCoy and Rachel (Matt) Winkle, both of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren: Corbin, Claire and Collin Winkle, Larami and Pistol McCoy and Cache and Oakley McCoy; sister, Kay McCoy; brother, Nell (Lavonne) McCoy; and nieces and nephews, Kacie McCoy, Lanelle (Andrew) Stump, J.H. McCoy and Keisha McCoy.
 
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Colleen Marie Winkle; grandson, Lane Everett McCoy; and a brother, James Henry McCoy.
 
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, 8230 US 50, Hillsboro, with Rev. Tom Zile officiating. Interment will follow in the Stringtown Cemetery, Hillsboro, where the Highland County Honor Guard will accord full military honors.
 
Friends will be received Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. at the church.
