Janet Jean Estle

Janet Jean Estle, 89, of the Rainsboro community, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Janet was born Jan. 21, 1935 in Rainsboro, the daughter of the late Eugene and Helen (Powell) Hixson. 

Janet was a member of the Rainsboro Global Methodist Church and graduate of Greenfield McClain High School. After graduation, she was a waitress at the Rainsboro Truck Stop. Janet and Kenny got married July 14, 1954, and she became a devoted farmer's wife. She served 20 years as the Fiscal Officer for Paint Township. Janet was a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her four grandchildren, Tara (Todd) Campbell of Rainsboro, Josh (Erin) Matthews of Leesburg, Jennifer (Nathan) Brown of Hillsboro and Samantha (Jeffery) Black of Rainsboro; 10 great-grandchildren, Grace, Zane, Joel, Gabriel and Claire Matthews, Coy, Luke and Ella Brown and Madison and C.J. Campbell; two great-great-grandchildren, Cairo and Ora; son-in-law, Rick (Kelly) Matthews of Rainsboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Kenneth D. Estle, on Jan. 10, 2023; daughter, Cindy Matthews; son, Terry Estle; and brother, Charles Hundley.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 at 4 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Dr. Russell Clark will officiate with inurnment of cremains in the Roads Cemetery.
