James 'Jim' Roger Stevens

James “Jim” Roger Stevens, 74, of Winchester, passed away peacefully Jan. 11, 2024 at his home, alongside his wife of 55 years, Connie Stevens, and their dog, Zip. 

Jim was born Sept. 22, 1949, the son of the late Frank and Christine Stevens.

Jim was a farmer all his life as well as working for the Highland County Water Company and building homes and barns. When he wasn’t busy working, Jim loved to fish, ride horses, go camping and take motorcycle rides with his wife. Jim owned a home in Florida for over 20 years and made countless friends and memories there as well. 

He was the loving father of Toy Maxwell (Wayne Avedisian) and Keith Stevens (Molly); loving grandfather of Daiquiri Meares (Ryan), Brian Maxwell (Sarah), Ally Speakman (Travis) and Mackenzie Dawson (Chandler); great-grandfather to Ayden, Grasen, Sawyer, Halen, Avery, Mason, Eli and Jaxson; and brother to Martha Cox (Ray), the late Barbara Helterbrand (Ronnie), Charlene Davis (Dean), Tom Stevens (Donna) and Tim Stevens (Jeanne). Jim also had numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Sugar Tree Ridge Cemetery.
