James F. Shoemaker

James F. Shoemaker, 72, passed away March 8, 2025.

He was born Aug. 10, 1952 in West Union, the son of Murven and Hazel (Smiley) Shoemaker Sr.

Jim proudly spent his days as a barber, where he not only honed his craft but also built lasting relationships with his clients. He was known for his easygoing nature, sharp wit and genuine kindness. Jim had a zest for life that shone through in everything he did. He loved hitting the open road on his motorcycle, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed having a fish sandwich at Frisch's Big Boy.

Jim was a beloved father, brother, grandfather and friend to many. 

Jim is survived by two sons, Jason (Kara) Shoemaker and Jody (Melissa) Shoemaker; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his brothers, Richard (Marlene) Shoemaker, Charles (Sharon) Shoemaker, Murven (Loraine) Shoemaker and Walter (Judy) Shoemaker; sisters, Carolyn (James) Beard and Ruth Ann Vance; and special friend, Debbie Coreno. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Janet Wright, Doris Hoffman and Edith Shoemaker.

Celebration of life will be noon Saturday, March 15 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will be invited to gather together to celebrate Jim's colorful life, share stories, and support one another in this difficult time.
